Perspectives of convenience...

BAGHDAD (AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says this week's deadly suicide bombings in Iraq are a sign that extremists are afraid the Iraqi government is succeeding.

Making her first trip to Iraq as America's top diplomat, Clinton said the country has made great strides despite the recent violence that killed at least 148 people in Baghdad and outside on Thursday and Friday.

"I think that these suicide bombings ... are unfortunately, in a tragic way, a signal that the rejectionists fear that Iraq is going in the right direction," Clinton told reporters traveling aboard her plane ahead of her unannounced Saturday visit to Baghdad.
Killer comments from the Left. While Bush was in office, when suicide bombings like these occurred, Democrat politicians tripped over each other to get to a microphone so that they could regurgitate with glee that 'Iraq was lost'...and the "freedom fighters" were succeeding.

Now, with Obama in office, suddenly these suicide bombings are..."a signal that the rejectionists fear that Iraq is going in the right direction."

Type these keywords into Google if you want to know how dishonest Clinton and the rest of her ilk happen to be:

"Iraq is lost"
Swing a dead cat, hit a hypocritical jackass...they are all over Washington D.C. Rich Lowery at NRO pegged them exactly two years ago on the issue.

____________

UPDATE: I missed the new term. "Rejectionist" is the new "Freedom Fighter." This is not to be confused with "Projectionist" who would run the equipment at the local theater...or "Injectionist" which will likely be the new term for a Heroin addict. I am, also, reminded of those great kickball games of elementary school where the two most celebrated participants (usually due to flunking a grade along the way) would pick the various teams right down most inept (think Tom Daschel in shorts with a crew cut)...those picking the teams were, of course, "Selectionists."

Hawaii a Microcosm...

Democratic House and Senate leaders say they feel betrayed that Republican Gov. Linda Lingle, after promising to work with them, is now threatening to veto any tax increases.

"When we met with her, she said everything was on the table, and now she says, 'No new taxes,'" said Sen. Donna Kim (D, Halawa-Kalihi Valley).

The governor defended her change in position.

"I remain committed to balancing the budget without raising taxes or laying off employees. Either of these actions would further weaken our economy," Lingle said.
This is the scene playing out across the country. Republicans (with some minor exceptions) not wanting to raise taxes...Democrats wanting to hit the taxpayer with a two by four across the forehead.

WHERE IN THE HELL IS THE LEADERSHIP IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY???!!!???? GET YOUR SANCTIMONIUS FACADES ON TELEVISION AND INFORM THE AMERICAN PEOPLE OF THIS SCENARIO!!!

It will do two things:

1. The Democrats will again and rightfully be associated with tax and spend legislation.

2. Some Democrats in shakey districts will be forced back into a more taxpayer friendly position.

Word still elusive to the Press--- "DEMOCRAT"

About a dozen county contractors have donated more than $100,000 combined to Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham's campaign war chest while receiving ''no-bid'' contracts worth more than $3 million, a Morning Call analysis of county and campaign finance records shows.

One of those contracts went to Computer Aid Inc., of Allentown, whose president has donated a total of $17,000 to Cunningham's campaign fund in the past four years.

In that time, Computer Aid Inc. has been paid more than $1.5 million under a contract to manage the county's information technology department.

In May the contract was extended for three years, with increases each year. Six months later, company President Anthony Salvaggio wrote checks for $10,500 to Cunningham's campaign fund.
The first order of business is assisting the ever predictable media in finding that elusive little word..."DEMOCRAT." How they keep losing it is mind-boggling. This is an above-the-fold front page story in The Morning Call where the subject is a DEMOCRAT who holds high aspirations of being Pennsylvania's next Governor. Not once is his party affiliation mentioned in the entire article. HE'S A DEMOCRAT.

It is nice to see that the Republicans in the state aren't all a bunch of defeatist pansies. That's the only way this article sees the light of day in the Tribune Company owned paper. Someone had to apply a little pressure from the "right" side of the aisle.

Computer Aid is not the only contractor to contribute to Cunningham's war chest since his first run for county office in 2005, state campaign finance and county vendor records show.

The larger donors include engineering consultant McTish Kunkel and Associates, whose principals donated $28,500 since 2005; The Philadelphia Trust Co., whose employees contributed $13,600; and Concord Public Financial Advisors, whose principals gave $8,500.

Those firms received no-bid contracts worth more than $300,000 during that same time. Cunningham and his top administrators say none of the contracts was the result of pay to play.
No-bid contracts are a joke to start with...but since Don Cunningham is a DEMOCRAT with abitious goals...we should just take him at his word...right?

Another misplaced word by the media...they need a box.

Former state Senator Dianne Wilkerson said she routinely accepted money over the last decade from friends and political supporters - upwards of $70,000, some of it cash in unmarked envelopes - without ever reporting it on her campaign reports or tax returns.

Wilkerson disclosed her acceptance of the cash and checks in a recent interview with the Globe, saying she took individual financial contributions of up to $10,000 to help pay off mortgage and federal tax debts. The contributions, she said, were approved by the state Ethics Commission, vetted by lawyers, and within state and federal laws.

The interview was the first Wilkerson has given since her arrest in October on federal bribery charges, an arrest that was accompanied by stunning FBI surveillance pictures of Wilkerson allegedly accepting wads of cash from a cooperating witness who sought a liquor license for a Roxbury nightclub.

While she declined to discuss anything about the criminal charges, her description of the highly unusual personal fundraising effort provides a possible window into her planned defense.
Now the Boston Globe seems to have misplaced the word "DEMOCRAT." No worries...I'm here to help.

DEMOCRAT Diane Wilkerson. The former DEMOCRAT Senator. You have to love this DEMOCRAT'S defense though...Apparently, she is going to try and convince the ethics committee as well as the Court of Law...that there were no strings attached to receiving cold hard cash from constituents asking for a favor. How does that work on this little scenario?

Despite Wilkerson's assertion, one of the people who gave Wilkerson the full $10,000 gift was Arthur Winn, one of the developers of the controversial Columbus Center project in Boston that would span the Massachusetts Turnpike, according to two people who were told about the transactions. Wilkerson voted in favor of state funding for Columbus Center in 2005, according to legislative records, and also lobbied state officials to provide additional state assistance to the developers.
Start working on the presidential pardon...DEMOCRAT Diane Wilkerson...you have a head start on the rest of the race hustlers.

Newspapers still missing elusive word...

PHILADELPHIA | - A co-defendant testified Tuesday in the corruption trial of former state Sen. Vincent Fumo that Fumo ordered him to destroy office e-mails amid an FBI investigation, as prosecutors zeroed in on the obstruction charges in the case.

Computer technician Mark Eister, the lone witness Tuesday, faces two years or more in prison after admitting that he destroyed e-mail evidence on what he called orders from Fumo and his top aides.
Allow me...

DEMOCRAT, Vincent Fumo...as in the DEMOCRATIC Senator who succeeded DEMOCRAT Buddy Cianfrani, who had been convicted of racketeering, bribery and obstruction of justice. As in Fumo was the DEMOCRAT ranking Member of the Senate appropriations committee until his own federal indictment in February 2007.

DEMOCRAT Vincent Fumo once called Republican President Pro Tempore Robert Jubelirer a "faggot" on the floor of the Pennsylvania Senate during a debate on slot machine gambling.

There...finished (and so is Fumo).

Beer Bottle Bingo...

Outgoing City Councilman Hiram Monserrate was arrested early Friday after allegedly whacking his girlfriend over the head with a beer bottle, a police source said.
First things first...the NY Daily News missed a word in their story. "DEMOCRAT"...the beer bottle busting blow-hard is a DEMOCRAT. Gosh...that drives me nuts.

Now, outgoing Queens City councilman and DEMOCRAT Hiram Monserrate is no longer employed on the NYC Council. What's the man to do? After all, losing one's job is tough...and the assault arrest isn't going to help his prospects much...no?

Monserrate was lauded by colleagues just yesterday - his last day serving on the City Council. He's off to Albany after winning an uncontested race for the state senate seat held by former Sen. John Sabini.
Welcome to the thriving metropolis of NY, my friends.

Here's your cordial...

Monserrate has recently drawn scrutiny for a nonprofit called Libre to which he has directed more than $400,000 in city funds that is run by some of its closest aides and has done political work for him.
Shocking...perhaps the new Senator would like to throw together a tax funded committee to study the unexplained phenomenon of beer bottle headers...Plenty of data.
