Should have thrown in some dark cataract glasses...

BOSTON (AP) -- A hearing on an asylum request by President Barack Obama's African aunt has started in Boston.

Kenya native Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUH'-nee awn-YAHN'-goh) is arguing Thursday in U.S. Immigration Court that she be allowed to stay in the United States.

Onyango showed up for the hearing in a wheelchair and with a cane across her lap. Lawyer Margaret Wong says Onyango and two doctors are expected to testify. The hearing is closed to the public.

Wong says she is applying for asylum for medical and ''other'' reasons.
Keep in mind that she had a previous hearing in 2004 and was ordered to be deported. Onyango ignored the decision, and continued to remain in the US while enjoying taxpayer funded public housing all the way to the present.

I'm kind of skeptical about the medical condition. Then again...I'm kind of skeptical about everything (and everyone).

Poetic Justice...

Word of the deal spread swiftly among Ecuadorean immigrants, along a robust grapevine from New York City out to Long Island and into Westchester County. In Peekskill, N.Y., a gas station worker named Henry León heard about it through a friend of his wife’s: The pastors of a storefront Pentecostal church in Corona, Queens, had the inside track on a special allotment of green cards the government had earmarked for church congregations.

Mr. León and his wife made the two-hour trip by train and subway to Corona to meet with one of the two pastors, Gregorio Gonzalez. He told them that all they had to do was to fill out a form and provide $8,000 each in cash and some personal identification documents, Mr. León recalled. The green cards would be ready in a month.

It seemed too good to be true. And it was, according to prosecutors in the Queens district attorney’s office.

Mr. León and his wife are among at least 120 illegal immigrants in the New York region, most of them Ecuadoreans, who the authorities say were defrauded out of a total of nearly $1 million by Mr. Gonzalez, 56, and two accomplices who were arrested in March and April. The authorities say it was one of the region’s largest cases of immigration fraud in recent years.
Overlook the New York Times' attempt to show how debased and abused the illegal aliens are. Instead concentrate on the fact that the two illegal aliens in this story had access to $16,000 with no problem. They likely don't pay taxes on their income. And, billions upon billions of such wages (untaxed) are sent back to their originating countries without issue.

That's what pisses me off. I could care less if people in the country illegally fall for fraud schemes. In fact, I kind of hope they do. Poetic justice...

I love irony...and hypocrisy in the same sandwich...

SAN FRANCISCO — In the debate over illegal immigration, San Francisco has proudly played the role of liberal enclave, a so-called sanctuary city where local officials have refused to cooperate with enforcement of federal immigration law and undocumented residents have mostly lived without fear of consequence.

But over the last year, buffeted by several high-profile crimes by illegal immigrants and revelations of mismanagement of the city’s sanctuary policy, San Francisco has become less like its self-image and more like many other cities in the United States: deeply conflicted over how to cope with the fallout of illegal immigration.
*Snort*

Imagine that...folks who were breaking the law just being in the US (and San Francisco)...continued to break the law on a more definitive basis. Then, those who FELT better by allowing these criminals to live in their "sancuary" realized that they were not necessarily benefitting from their leeching existence and growing predatory behavior.

Gosh...didn't see that coming...

Like clockwork...

It would be more than a week before Mrs. Gutiérrez went to Oaxaca’s General Hospital, where she arrived listless and barely able to breathe, her extremities blue from a lack of oxygen.

That delay in getting expert help may explain why Mrs. Gutiérrez, 39, a mother of daughters ages 10, 17 and 20, became Mexico’s first death from a new, virulent strain of influenza A(H1N1). It may also suggest why this country’s death toll from the virus is higher than any other’s.

Epidemiologists are still puzzled by the virus, its origins and its modes of transmission. But they agree that prompt medical attention is crucial to treating it.
Expect a follow-up piece by the New York Times' MARC LACEY and ELISABETH MALKIN sometime in the next week. The yet to be published piece will stress the necessity of early treatment to confound the "Swine Flu." Then, the piece will dive into the necessity of amnesty for illegal aliens so that they don't delay their treatment due to fears that ICE officials will throw them back to their country of origin.

What is the NY Times waiting for? Well, in order to play on our emotions, and make their case, they need a heap load of illegal aliens to expire in the United States due to late diagnosis or delayed professional treatment.

Anyone want to take the bet?

Everyone do the Onyango...

President Barack Obama’s aunt, who has been in this country illegally for at least five years, will have another chance to fight the years-long effort to deport her during an immigration hearing in Boston in April.

Zeituni Onyango, 56, the half-sister of Obama’s late father, was ordered to leave the country back in 2004, but she never left. Instead, she remained here illegally and made a quiet life for herself in two different South Boston housing projects while her nephew rose to national prominence.

Onyango, a native Kenyan, is reportedly living in the Cleveland area, having left Boston amid intense media attention.

Up until late last year, she had been living in a state-funded unit on Flaherty Way. Before that, from 2003 to 2007, she lived in the federally-funded Old Colony Development in South Boston.
My pointy little head inquires why the Immigration Judge required the issuance of a motion for Stay of removal, and then a motion to reopen the case. The plaintiff is already in violation of a Court issued order. The fact that the plaintiff was knowingly down in Washington DC with her lawyer celebrating the inauguration is nearly perverted flauting of criminal activity.

Let's check in with President Obama's new Homeland Security Secretary...

Janet Napolitano, President-elect Barack Obama's nominee to head the Department of Homeland Security, vowed yesterday at her Senate confirmation hearing to shift the focus of U.S. immigration enforcement from illegal workers to the prosecution of employers who hire those workers, signaling a clear break with the outgoing Bush administration.
Wait...WHAT!? At this rate...Zeituni Onyango will end up with a choice of running the Housing and Urban Development Office (HUD)...or US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Hey...we already have a tax cheat overseeing the Treasury...and a tax policy maker ignoring his own pesky laws. Let's put an illegal immigrant in charge of immigration.

Hyde Park soapbox orator from the Colonies...

SOUTHOLD, N.Y.—Police on Long Island arrested a man after he allegedly kicked a police car and asked to be deported back to his home country of Guatemala. Police said the 27-year-old man called the Southold Police Department early Sunday and asked to be arrested so he could be deported.

Police said that when officers arrived at the scene, they told him he could not be arrested because he had not committed a crime.

That's when, according to police, the man kicked the driver's side door of their patrol car. The man was arrested and charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Details of his arraignment were not immediately available.
(Scratches head)....(squints)...(scratches head a second time)...He asked to be deported...asked to be arrested.

The implication is that he was in the country illegally. Yet, the police can do nothing. Local police seem to try to avoid the added burden of involving themselves in ICE territory. In addition, there are a significant number of towns on Long Island that consider themselves "sanctuary cities."

But then...he kicks the police car...and *Pouf*...they arrest him for a 4th degree Misdimeanor.

Look…I don’t know if this guy is an illegal immigrant or not. I do know that there are tens of thousands of illegal immigrants in that part of Suffolk County, and that local administrators make it easier for them by setting up actual structures they can use while waiting to be picked up for day-labor work (illegally).

As you might have guessed, I am strongly against Illegal Immigration, and think that employers should be subject to criminal charges under the RICO act…as well as voluminous and costly Civil verdicts filed by competitors for unfair business practices. But, what I’d really like to see is the “Big Boy” material cargo carriers start getting in on the act in exploration of a new niche market…

DHL, UPS, or Federal Express should offer the US Government discounted bulk fees to Guatemala, Mexico, and the like to provide a passenger service along with their package delivery. It would, likely, improve their bottom lines, and for once I would consider my tax dollars well spent. There is nothing wrong with a little diversification in the business world and the restructuring of DHL provides a valid opportunity to increase revenue on established routes.

I'm tired of hearing the same resolute defeatism by our legistators in reference to the illegal alien issue. They say that there are too many...and there is nothing they can do. What they mean is that they are many potential voters, and as soon as my cronies and I can make them legal...they will remember who was in their corner and provide the all important votes to prolong my career.

The contintuency needs to be motivated, and the current state of the economy provides an opportunity. If the public is educated as to the increased costs of schools, hospitals, jails, courts and the police due to illegal immigration and how that translates to taxes...well...people always vote their wallet. Of course, we also need a wall down there on the Mexican border, and that has been a joke of a project with the current Congress as well as President #43 and the new President #44. New York politicians are more interested in how they can somehow tax illegal immigrants on all the money they send home through Inter-American Development Bank. While, somehow, still courting potential votes in the future.

I'm not anti-immigration. I am anti-ILLEGAL immigration. I'm an immigrant, as most in this country. Granted, my family arrived in 1753 (Philadelphia)...but they were still immigrants...and they did so legally. They integrated into society with effort, learned English...and according to diary entries of the first to arrive...worked hard to even lose a German accent as they believed this provided more respect from their neighbors, customers, students, friends etc. I happen to think they were right.

The iron is hot to address illegal immigration based on the struggling economy. And, I have not even addressed the actual safety factor involved relative to terrorism. I shouldn't have to. (steps off soapbox).

"This town really needs an enema..."--Howie Carr

This town really does need an enema. How corrupt has Boston become when we now have illegal alien maids from Brazil wearing wires against six-figure federal immigration officials?
The Boston port director for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection was arrested for harbouring an illegal alien.

My advice is that this country needs an enema. This is a Federal employee (Lorraine Henderson). I'm afraid, however, that Uncle Sam's lower intestine will be remain full of crap until a major city disappears in a cloud of red vapor courtesy of these corrupt officials and the lax enforcement of laws on the books.
