Water Carrier alert...

WASHINGTON — Even the most exacting truth commission may have a hard time determining for certain whether brutal interrogations conducted by the Central Intelligence Agency helped keep the country safe.

Last week’s release of long-secret Justice Department interrogation memorandums has given rise to starkly opposing narratives about what, if anything, was gained by the C.I.A.’s use of waterboarding, wall-slamming and other physical pressure to shock and intimidate Qaeda operatives.
The author of this NY Times pieces is Scott Shane. Scott's expertise, it would appear, is the promotion of the Leftist talking points (sometimes before the Democrats make a move, most of the time after an act took place). He is consequently one of the Democrat Party's goto guys when they need to move something to the public. Some of his history in that regard is right HERE.

This particular mess is a bit more difficult to clean up, but it is obvious what the talking points and strategy will be (is). To refresh your memory, Axelrod came right out and said that the country is as safe as it ever was while his boss was releasing cherry picked CIA memos divulging the process and protocol on securing information from TERRORISTS. Vice President Cheney stated that if Obama is going to sell us down the river, he should release all the memos so that the American public could see how these "Fraternity prank" techniques produced results, and kept us safe.

Scott Shane is trying to lay the groundwork that these techniques provided nothing of importance... However, Obama had gone too far and stated this:

“high value information came from interrogations in which these methods were used,”

Republicans need to jump on this issue and force it all into the open, as the portion released to date by the current Administration already compromises the process. Nothing more could be damaged.

And then...a spine develops in the Republican party (via Gateway Pundit):

Today Rep. Peter Hoekstra at The Wall Street Journal called for a complete investigation of damage done to national security by President Obama by leaking these CIA memos:
The simple fact of the matter is, that should there be an attack on US soil in the near future, before the Democrats can use their water carriers in the press to neutralize the damage done by releasing these memos and leaving us bare...they have big problems. There is no way around the fact that President Obama is way out of his league.

An Admission of sorts...

WASHINGTON: The new director of national intelligence told Congress that global economic turmoil and the instability it could ignite had outpaced terrorism as the most urgent threat facing the United States.

The assessment underscored concern inside America's intelligence agencies not only about the fallout from the economic crisis around the globe, but also about long-term harm to America's reputation. The crisis that began in American markets has already "increased questioning of U.S. stewardship of the global economy," the intelligence chief, Dennis Blair, said.
That's quite a statement to make.

In other words, the US "director of national intelligence" confirmed that the US Congress and the Clinton administration (which pushed the legislation and mentality that unqualified individuals should receive loans) are the most urgent threat facing the United States. They are (and have been) more dangerous than that Bin Laden fellow all along.

This would be a "told ya so" moment...

In a departure from recent years, when the heads of several intelligence agencies joined the director of national intelligence to deliver the testimony on the threats facing the nation, Blair faced the committee alone, a sign that the Obama administration plans for him to take on a more public role at the top of the intelligence pyramid.
Yeah...that would be the message if you ate lead paint chips as a child, or hit your head one too many times. The other message is that, should Chicago or London...or Paris disappear tomorrow in a big cloud of fire, the only one getting thrown under the bus is Mr. Blair, while the other intelligence agency heads are free to distance themselves from this nonsense...along with the Obama Administration.

Has anyone ever noticed that Liberal Democrats always have a contingency plan...a fallguy...a patsy...a water carrier...political cover? Judd Gregg was to be the political cover on this gluttonous balderdash called a stimulus package...You can bet that other Republicans are being considered as we speak to fill that recent void.
