Alphabet words...

This has got to be the most politically correct stupidity so far. Ok...ready? I'm going to write a sentence that, apparently, offends. Here goes:

"My car was going too fast so I tapped the brakes to retard the velocity a bit."

That's right. The above sentence is offensive to some folks. Those same folks think that everyone should be offended and refuse to use the word retard. You can't ban words with more than one meaning. It's idiotic.

Think I'm embellishing the effort being made to void a word. Look:

Tufts of crap...

After rejecting a number of candidates with stronger academic records, for example, Tufts admits a student from a blue-collar Italian family who wrote movingly about his love of "food and family" and his relationship with his developmentally disabled brother. The student, who attends a Catholic school and works summers as a golf caddy, is judged a "smidge weak academically" by one reviewer.

But the group clearly takes a shine to him, and admits him unanimously.

"He's really sweet about his bro," Roper-Doten says.

In the most intense debate of the morning, the panel splits over a hearing-impaired student from a rough neighborhood who travels more than an hour to a magnet high school. Her test scores and grades were mediocre, with a B average and C's in English. But she grew up speaking Spanish, reviewers note, and she helped care for her siblings from a young age.

"We've taken kids like this who wind up being president of their class," said Isabel Casariego Bober, 26.

In the context of her background, her scores on the ACT were strong, Bober adds. If she had gone to the high school in her own neighborhood, they agree, she probably would have gotten all A's.
Tufts College is a politically correct cesspool of indoctrination. As noted above, their admission process is certainly no exception. I don't think they realize that by highlighting this idiocy in a Boston Globe article, they aren't necessarily making the college more attractive. Then again, that's the problem...isn't it? These nuanced progressives feel they are doing "good" work by admitting those who didn't quite push themselves far enough academically...while those who did so...get the shaft.

Later, the group wastes little time in rejecting a straight-A student - a Girl Scout, dancer, and peer tutor, to boot. There were plenty of others just like her, says Daniel Grayson, a 25-year-old Tufts alumni on the panel.
Ladies and Gentlemen take my advice...pull down your pants and slide on the ice. And...don't even apply to this drainage ditch of a multiculturism experiment.

USA Today is a bunch of pansies...

Here's the headline:

"First African-American comic book up for auction"

Here's the name of the comic book:

A copy of All-Negro Comics No. 1, as it was called, is up for sale by comics entrepreneur Stephen Fishler.
Am I the only one that finds the irony front and center here?

Our media today is so politically "correct" that they are scared to use the actual name of the comic book in their headline. Incidentally, the comic book was written back in 1947 for a demographic of...um...negroes...blacks...African Americans...Afro-Americans...or whatever nuanced politically "correct" term we are using these days to reflect the amount of melanin found in someone's skin tone.

The founder and creator of the comic book was Orrin C. Evans. Mr. Evans was a reporter of note, and a long time proponent of civil rights. His series of articles for the Philadelphia Record that addressed the segregation of troops during WW II helped end the practice. My point is that the author of the comic book held standing in calling his work All-Negro Comics No. 1. Yet, USA Today is scared out of their britches to use the same term in their headline because it wouldn't be...proper.

Politically correct naming...

Atlanta’s newest favorite son — Zoo Atlanta’s panda cub — now has a name: Xi Lan (shee-lahn).

In a ceremony marking his 100th day of life, zoo officials revealed the name — which means “Atlanta’s joy” — while about 200 people, braving the sunny, morning chill, cheered with excitement.

So...when a zoo in Beijing acquires a Bald Eagle...do they name it "Bob" or "Fred" or something...you know...American?

Pansy Protection Policies...

From Andrew Bolt's fine blog at the Herald Sun (Down Under):

Queensland was once a bold, frontier country, where they bred them tough:

TEACHERS have been told to stop marking schoolchildren’s work with red pen because it is an “aggressive” colour.
The obvious repercussions:

1. Rosacea suffers worldwide are going into hiding.
2. Accountants are confused.
3. The Chinese Communists feel victimized.
4. Murder mystery plots will be less intricate.
5. Warren Beatty and Diane Keaton are going to lose out on royalties.
6. We'll lose a planet from our solar system...and have to put a huge hole through Jupiter.
7. The Palestinians will have no one from which to borrow ambulances in their suicide runs.
8. Our flag is going to look like France's battle flag...but ours will have a field of stars.
9. Will be shot on sight: red fox, red squirrel, red deer, Robin Redbreast, Red Grouse, Red Knot, Redstart, Redwing, Red Setter, Red Devon cattle
10. Vampires can no longer be sloppy eaters on the big or little screen.
