WASHINGTON (AP) — The Justice Department on Monday released a long-secret legal document from 2001 in which the Bush administration claimed the military could search and seize terror suspects in the United States without warrants.

The legal memo was written about a month after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. It says constitutional protections against unlawful search and seizure would not apply to terror suspects in the U.S., as long as the president or another high official authorized the action.

Even after the Bush administration rescinded that legal analysis, the Justice Department refused to release its contents, prompting a standoff with congressional Democrats.

The memo was one of nine released Monday by the Obama administration.

In other words...."Yeah...yeah...I'm screwing up the economy...BUT CHECK OUT THESE MEMOS...HOLY CRAP...DID YOU READ THEM???!!!???

Bush rescinded them, folks. There is absolutely no reason what-so-ever to release them other than to distract away from what a disaster he is causing to our wallets.

The president of Chechnya emerged from afternoon prayers at the mosque and with chilling composure explained why seven young women who had been shot in the head deserved to die.

Ramzan Kadyrov said the women, whose bodies were found dumped by the roadside, had "loose morals" and were rightfully shot by male relatives in honor killings.

"If a woman runs around and if a man runs around with her, both of them are killed," the bullnecked Kadyrov told journalists in the capital of this Russian republic.

Kadyrov describes women as the property of their husbands and says their main role is to bear children. He encourages men to take more than one wife, even though polygamy is illegal in Russia. Women and girls are now required to wear head scarves in schools, universities and government offices.

But as Kadyrov has consolidated his power, many of his critics and political rivals have been killed. Some have been gunned down on the streets of Moscow, including the journalist Anna Politkovskaya, whose death in 2006 made headlines around the world.

About a dozen county contractors have donated more than $100,000 combined to Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham's campaign war chest while receiving ''no-bid'' contracts worth more than $3 million, a Morning Call analysis of county and campaign finance records shows.

One of those contracts went to Computer Aid Inc., of Allentown, whose president has donated a total of $17,000 to Cunningham's campaign fund in the past four years.

In that time, Computer Aid Inc. has been paid more than $1.5 million under a contract to manage the county's information technology department.

In May the contract was extended for three years, with increases each year. Six months later, company President Anthony Salvaggio wrote checks for $10,500 to Cunningham's campaign fund.

The first order of business is assisting the ever predictable media in finding that elusive little word..."DEMOCRAT." How they keep losing it is mind-boggling. This is an above-the-fold front page story in The Morning Call where the subject is a DEMOCRAT who holds high aspirations of being Pennsylvania's next Governor. Not once is his party affiliation mentioned in the entire article. HE'S A DEMOCRAT.

It is nice to see that the Republicans in the state aren't all a bunch of defeatist pansies. That's the only way this article sees the light of day in the Tribune Company owned paper. Someone had to apply a little pressure from the "right" side of the aisle.

Computer Aid is not the only contractor to contribute to Cunningham's war chest since his first run for county office in 2005, state campaign finance and county vendor records show.

The larger donors include engineering consultant McTish Kunkel and Associates, whose principals donated $28,500 since 2005; The Philadelphia Trust Co., whose employees contributed $13,600; and Concord Public Financial Advisors, whose principals gave $8,500.

Those firms received no-bid contracts worth more than $300,000 during that same time. Cunningham and his top administrators say none of the contracts was the result of pay to play.

No-bid contracts are a joke to start with...but since Don Cunningham is a DEMOCRAT with abitious goals...we should just take him at his word...right?

CONCORD, N.H.—Corrections Commissioner William Wrenn says New Hampshire needs to do a better job keeping paroled inmates from returning to prison.

Wrenn says about 500 paroled inmates return every year for violating the terms of their release. Cutting that number could mean substantial savings, given that those inmates make up a large share of the 2,600 inmates in the entire state prison system.

Meanwhile...sane and common sense oriented individuals are saying that PAROLED INMATES NEED TO DO A BETTER JOB OPERATING WITHIN THE LAWS OF CIVILIZED SOCIETY.

New Hampshire just has to make the stay in the "big house" a little less hospitable. For example...fresh water will be available if it rains the night before.

WASHINGTON - The faltering US economy is fueling a dramatic turnaround in military recruiting, with new statistics showing that the Army is experiencing the highest rate of new enlistments in six years.

The Army exceeded its goals each month from October through January - the first quarter of the new fiscal year - for both the active-duty Army and the Army Reserve, according to figures compiled by the US Army Recruiting Command.

This article from the "Boston Globe" is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE.

It's unbelievable because the Leftist leaning (more like falling) Globe didn't attribute the increase in recruitment to Obama's magic powers of persuasion. We'll see how things go when he starts stripping the military down to the bare bones like Friar Carter did in the 70's.
