Publishing the book, she notes, was a difficult choice. Her father supported her, but other family members sometimes wondered why she had to be so public about it all. After it was published a man called her office phone and threatened to kill her. Other threats appeared on the Internet.

She brushes them off, saying she has declined an offer of protection from the government. Besides, she adds, educating the public is worth the risk.

“A few days ago a woman came in and asked me if it is O.K. to kiss the man all over his body,” she said. “I told her, ‘Read my book!’ ”

Mr. Maqdisi’s problem is more homegrown. A new generation of jihadists, many of them less educated and respectful of authority than their elders, has begun taking issue with him. Mr. Maqdisi believes suicide bombing is a legitimate tactic but has said it should not be used indiscriminately, and he has spoken against the sectarian massacres in Iraq. For this he is accused of turning his back on jihad.

This isn't going to end well...

The president of Chechnya emerged from afternoon prayers at the mosque and with chilling composure explained why seven young women who had been shot in the head deserved to die.

Ramzan Kadyrov said the women, whose bodies were found dumped by the roadside, had "loose morals" and were rightfully shot by male relatives in honor killings.

"If a woman runs around and if a man runs around with her, both of them are killed," the bullnecked Kadyrov told journalists in the capital of this Russian republic.

Orchard Park police are investigating a particularly gruesome killing, the beheading of a woman, after her husband -- an influential member of the local Muslim community -- reported her death to police Thursday.

Police identified the victim as Aasiya Z. Hassan, 37. Detectives have charged her husband, Muzzammil Hassan, 44, with second-degree murder.

Tragic...and...well...ironic. You see, according to Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch, the suspect and his late wife were upset by the negative perceptions of Muslims.

Muzzammil Hassan came to America from Pakistan 25 years ago. He became a successful banker in Buffalo, New York, near the famed Niagara Falls.

While he and his wife were happy to be in the United States, they were upset by the negative perceptions of Muslims, and particularly how this perception might affect their children.

That is how they came up with the idea of Bridges TV. Mr. Hassan's wife challenged him to start it.

A Pakistani court declared disgraced nuclear scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan free on Friday, ending five years of house arrest for the man at the centre of the world's most serious proliferation scandal.

Khan, lionised by many Pakistanis as the father of the country's atomic bomb, confessed to selling nuclear secrets to Iran, North Korea and Libya in 2004, but was immediately pardoned by the government, although his movements were restricted to effective house arrest.

RAFAH, Gaza Strip: It was Friday, the Muslim day of rest, but the Gaza Strip's border with Egypt was a hive of activity. Men scraped sandy soil out of holes that had served as tunnels for smuggling, and were one of the main targets of Israel's assault.

Now, less than a week after it ended, Gazans were back, plunging deep underground with lamps to carry rocky loads of soil out on pulleys.

"Everybody's busy rebuilding now," said a manager of one digging team. "In a month, it will be back to normal."

The defiant pose seemed surprisingly brazen in light of recent events: Israel said smuggling tunnels were a prime concern, after Hamas rockets, in attacking the Gaza Strip, and it hit dozens of them in airstrikes during the war. But the tunnels are the principle livelihood for many people here, and as soon as the bombing stopped, they were right back in them with their shovels.

Stop the carnage!!! The Israelis are barbarians!!! The proportional firepower used by the Israelis was overkill!!!

Are the Palestinians really this stupid??? How vacuous and obtuse do you have to be to flaunt the continuation of one of the primary motives on the Israeli action? And, I'd like to point out that those interviewed in the IHT article do not identify themselves (for the most part) as Hamas. They are Gazans...they are your everyday, run of the mill...Palestinians.

The tunnels do not address the more important question of reconstruction. Though the focus internationally has been on who will receive the money - the West does not want Hamas to get any - here in Rafah, a far more urgent question is whether the Israelis will let materials through official crossings. Tunnels, managers said, will not work.

"Reconstruction now depends on the Israeli's good will," said Jabbar Qeshta, deputy mayor of Rafah, and a member of Hamas.

The municipality has three bulldozers and about 30 cement mixers, Qeshta said, but the most basic ingredient was missing.

"Tell them I want cement," he said.

To summarize...Hamas (with the support of most of the Palestinian constituency in Gaza) lobs rockets continuously on Israeli border towns. Israel responds by taking out the origination of the mortars (continuously hid in residential as well as UN operated buildings), attempts to destroy the tunnels by which the armaments are being smuggled into Gaza, and make a concerted effort to neutralize those responsible for the decision making.

The entire cadre of media morons attempts to show Israel in an unfavorable light, and apply Sainthood to the Palestinians. The United Nations does the same (as expected). A ceasefire is finally realized (although way too early in my opinion).

And NOW...regular everyday Palestinians flaunt that they are continuing on by rebuilding the tunnels such that this same scenario can take place again in the near future.

The incoming Obama administration is weighing whether to close the U.S. military prison at Guantánamo Bay, which many critics have called an extralegal system of detention and abuse.

This guy is going to file a Civil suit against the US Government via his Washington lawyer. Even if his story is true (which will take more than a grain of salt to swallow)...his injuries occurred in the custody of the Indonesians and the Egyptians.

Iqbal says that all this incarceration stems from being accused of bragging about being able to create a working "shoe bomb." He denies that he ever said that...of course. You don't yell "FIRE!" in a crowded movie theater...unless there is a fire. Someone is likely to believe you...Just ask Iqbal.

SANA'A, Dec. 21 — The State department has cautioned US diplomats and nationals that they should avoid using Western hotels in Yemen, in the wake of several terrorist threats.

Ryan Gliha, the public relations officer in the US embassy in Sana’a, confirmed that threats were received, but gave no further comments.

The US embassy stated that it received threats against Western embassies, Western hotels, and Western interests in Sana'a and Aden.

A high ranking official in the US Intelligence Council stated in August that Yemen is rapidly reemerging as a jihadist battleground and is a potential base of operations for large international terrorist attacks.

Similarly, the German embassy had sent SMS warning to its citizens in Yemen to avoid public places where tourists are known to gather in an attempt to prevent further kidnapping of its citizens, in the wake of the kidnapping of three German nationals who had been recently released.

The statement said Karayev was killed because he ordered a crackdown in Vladikavkaz on women wearing traditional Muslim garb in the wake of the Nov. 6 attack by a female suicide bomber in the city that left 12 people dead.

With all the activity and Islamic butchery in Bombay, this Islamic assassination of the mayor of the North Ossetian capital, Vladikavkaz, didn't get much play. North Ossetia is a republic that is mostly Christian found in the North Caucasus (which is predominately Muslim).

I'm curious...since it appears that it is acceptable for Muslims to "defend" their religion by any means necessary...does that mean that they wouldn't be upset should Christians take on the same Modus Operandi?

Muslims like other communities want equal and fair treatment rather than treatment which is discriminatory or highly prejudicial. A recent arrest of fire bombers of a publisher under terror laws is another case in point. They were held under anti terror laws for almost a week and then charged under normal armed offences, which they could have used at the time of arrest. But because they were Muslims, anti terror laws were misused to collect information. What was also disturbing about this incidence was that the police allowed the perpetrators to carry out the bombing (they were under police surveillance). Luckily no one was injured. The police told The Muslim News the reason they were allowed to carry out the bombing was that they could be caught “red-handed”.

UNFAIR!!! UNFAIR!!! They allowed them to carry out the bombing because they could, then, be caught "red-handed."

I don't buy that. But, it's plausible...because anything short of surveillance monitored proof of the crime would have resulted in these same mouth-breathing cretins at the Muslim News claiming that the three morons holding the bottle of petrol were looking for their lost moped.

Not a word from the Muslim News as to why the Gibson Square publishing company was fire bombed.

Apparently, towards the end of September, there were a bunch of gelatinous-brained Muslims who didn’t like the fact that Gibson Square published a fiction novel (Jewel of Medina) by US author and journalist, Sherry Jones that gives a fictionalized account of the Prophet Muhammad’s relationship with a child bride named Aisha. In their minds, that was sufficient cause to burn down the publishing house, which doubled as a residence.

Three Muslims were arrested for the act.

Random House had, actually, been scheduled to publish the book, but cancelled under public outrage by the same caliber of sphincters who firebombed Gibson, and write for Muslim News. Ironically, the whole ‘up in arms’ attitude against the book was likely propagated by the possible hysterics of Denise Spellberg, a professor of Middle Eastern studies at the University of Texas. She seems to be a real piece of excrement in her own right.

It was a freakin' book of fiction for Pete's sake. GET A GRIP YOU OVER-SENSITIVE, THIN SKINNED, WHINING TROGLODYTES!!!! And, yes, Muhammad was indeed a pedophile by the standards of a civilized world. So says the quran (lower case q on purpose).

The silver lining in it all, of course, is the owner of Gibson Publishing, Martin Rynja. The man believes in free speech and has chosen not to be deterred by ‘book burning’ half-wit assholes like those launching fire bombs, ignorance of those Muslims filling their compatriots with over-propagandized tripe like the Muslim News, or self-proclaimed pseudo-scholars without the least bit of common sense or decency like Denise Spellman.
