I've got a shot at this...

Win $20,000 to Put Your Green Idea Into Action

SunChips and National Geographic have joined forces to create the Green Effect, an initiative to inspire individuals to spark a green movement in their communities.

YOU could be the one to make a difference in your community—for the planet! Submit a description of your Green Effect idea by June 8, 2009. Ten finalists will be announced July 7, 2009. Online viewers and a distinguished panel of judges will review these inspiring ideas.

We'll award $20,000 each to five people or groups that have the best ideas for green change. The five winners will also be profiled in National Geographic, and the winners will travel to Washington, D.C., to share their projects with environmental leaders.
I propose an alternate day "breath holding" effort. Recently, the Environmental Protection Agency stated that we need to regulate Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions in order to combat this thing called "Global Warming." In fact, Carbon Dioxide is supposed to be the number one cause of "Global Warming." And, as we all emit these poisons on a daily basis when we breathe, let's cut the head off the serpent.

Considering the average human takes about 18 breaths per minute, and there are 6.8 Billion people inhabiting the Earth, that would be 122.4 Billion breaths per minute. That's 176,256,000,000,000 breaths per day.

Now...I'm not crazy. I think we need to do this incrementally...not all at once. So, we should hold our breath on alternate days. Half the world's population will do it the first day, and the other half the next day. Of course, this is not going to be coordinated perfectly until it is shown to have an effect. The United States needs to set the example such that other countries will have the opportunity to observe the wonderful Earth saving effects.

My proposal suggests that the easiest way to assign non-breathing days on a 50%/50% alternating basis would just be to divide the US population by political proclivities. We are about split down the middle in that regard. Also, "Global Warming" tends to be an ideological issue more accepted by the Left. Therefore, in the theme of earned honors, let's let the Left have their day in the sun...and they can go first. We on the Right will wait a day to join you...we promise!! *snort*

Good luck!!!!
