HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A Republican state legislator and vocal critic of Pennsylvania's Democratic governor has been sworn in as the state's lieutenant governor. The late Lt. Governor (Knoll) always struck me a bit strange. You might recall this little escapade (Lt. gov. crashed Marine's funeral, kin say). That was way back in 2005, well before the official diagnosis of her neuroendocrine cancer earlier this year. But, the behavior at the funeral was...well...odd.
State Sen. Joe Scarnati (scar-NAH-tee) was sworn in Wednesday as the replacement for the late Lt. Gov. Catherine Baker Knoll. He assumed the job under the state constitution's rules of succession.
Regardless, the Keystone State now has a Republican Lt. Governor by succession. Rendell will have his hands full. Scarnati is no shrinking violet.
